When he found out I was going to be born, he wanted to learn ventriloquism so he could read to me using puppets. So, he did! When I was five, I noticed my dad’s lips and throat move a little when he was reading to me, and that’s when I put it all together that HE was the one making them talk. As a 5-year-old, this was mind blowing news to me lol. While growing up, I knew my dad went to a puppet convention every Summer, but when I found out it was a ventriloquist convention, I REALLY wanted to go! However, my dad told me he wouldn’t bring me unless I was serious about learning the art. So, I started reading and completed a course called “Maher Course of Advanced Ventriloquism” within six months of starting it. When I was 6-years old, I performed on a stage for the very first time. I fell in love with making people laugh and still do. I took over my dad’s business “Rocky Mountain Puppets” when I was 16 years old and started performing at libraries for Summer Reading Programs on a regular basis. I went from having 16 shows my first Summer to now performing over 200 shows every single Summer. Performing was a seasonal thing for me up until I graduated from college, which brings me to what I initially wanted to do with puppets. I have always been extremely passionate about health and fitness, so I wanted to be a doctor that used puppets with kids; however, chemistry, biochemistry, and basically all the chemistries and I…did NOT have chemistry 😂. I switched my major from Pre-Med to Psychology and graduated from Colorado State in Summer 2018. What happened after college with my business is a story for another time, but this just shows you that life is full of surprises. I am extremely grateful to have parents that have supported my dreams since day one. Mom & Dad, thank you for bringing me into this world. 💕 Here’s to another year around the sun! less
