My research experiences leaned heavily towards microbiology/… more I will say, even with all of this, i wasnt yet super competitive for industry right out of college. My research experiences leaned heavily towards microbiology/infectious diseases, while a lot of industry jobs are heavy on immunology/molecular biology. But, i still think i did the best i could with the knowledge I had. If I wanted to be more competitive in biotech and had known back then, I would have tried harder to get into biotech internships over the summer, and maybe taken a different emphasis than micro. But, i loved learning about micro, so I don’t regret my journey. My non-STEM classes and extracurriculars also helped me develop super important skills for my career in biotech.
