I’ve seen a lot of people who wanted to do the academic lab thing, but simply couldn’t afford to be paid pennies in academia anymore and had personal/family reasons to think about financially. Anywayssssss, I love my job and the financial freedom I have now, but also the upward career mobility and scientific resources I have access to now as well. It is a huge relief to be able to splurge a bit on groceries, and go get a fun lil treat at sephora without a TON of guilt, but starting my career low paying with a strict budget I think gave me a good mindset about budgeting and money that I still take with me. On a more serious note, i also used to worry a ton about being able to support a family, and if i was contributing enough to retirement or saving up enough. I still worry about that, but I feel a lot better about it than i used too. Do you worry about money? Do you work in academia or industry? Curious to hear others thoughts on this #biotech #Budgeting #academiatoindustry less
