We were more than 20 ft away and around a bend on a trail in a beautiful second conifer growth forest (> 80 years old), when anise scent trails began dancing on our olfactory receptors. The smell of anise washed over and within us. An experience I hope you all have. Edible but should be used sparingly because the flavor is so pronounced.
