How they started their own business and became one of the highest praised professionals in their field, how they made so many important connections with peinceps’ and monarchs. That they needed to stop allowing their fathers to control their overall view on themselves, and to start fully living for themselves. Louvinia decided to take that advice to heart and go to their first masquerade in the deep north. No one knowing who is who, Louvinia was nervous about asking someone to dance. Rejection as themselves seemed obvious, but rejection with no identity was their biggest fear. Their eyes nervously danced across the crowd, eyeing a few individuals for a while. A tall masculine figure wearing a mask of birds had caught their eye more times than they could remember. Even as they moved from wall to wall, it was as if the masked man wanted them to see him. Surely not, though, Louvinia just loved the details of the mask. It reminded them of their pet crow, and hoping he was doing okay at home by himself. Finally mustering up the courage, Louvinia began to walk delicately towards the stranger, trying to refrain from appearing sheepish. “May I have this dance?” They said as loudly as their fear could allow them, but given the crowd and music they feared it wouldn’t be loud enough. “I thought you’d never ask”, the figure says through a smirk, taking Louvinias hand. As the night drew towards an end Louvinia pondered the strangers reply. “Why did you wait for me to ask for a dance?” Instantly regretting the question. His response earlier was probably a line he used often. “I wasn’t sure if you’d be interested, you mentioned you were coming but never brought up the topic of a date”. The man paused, waiting for a response that never came “I was hoping you came alone, but wasn’t confident. Luckily the stars were aligned” he said pointedly. ‘Stars? Is it? No…’ Louvinia thought to themselves “August??” “Is that okay?” the masked figure asked through a smile. “Yes” left their lips before they could think of a normal response “I mean, I just hadn’t realized—“ “I know,” August said pulling them closer into a kiss that left their head spinning “you were never allowed to”. Because of Angharad, they were introduced to August shortly after their conversation a few weeks prior. They spent many late nights staring into the stars and talking about everything and nothing all at once. They hadn’t even realized they let slip their desire to go to the masquerade. Nor realized their feelings were mutual, but there they were. Under the stars, once again. #oc #oclore #masquerade #dnd #fantasyart less
