The incident sparked protests and violent clashes between demonstrators and authorities. Minneapolis Police Chief Brian O’Hara described the victim as a 37-year-old White male, who was a resident of the city and believed to be an American citizen. The man was not identified by name, but O’Hara said he appeared to lawfully own a gun. Agents were conducting a “targeted operation” when a man with a 9mm handgun approached them on the south side of the city, Assistant Department of Homeland Security Secretary Tricia McLaughlin said in a statement. less
