For 14 and a half years, Willow was my constant comfort, my safe place, and my reason to keep going through some of the darkest chapters of my life. She was my best friend who knew everything about me and who felt like home. She was the purest love I have ever known. Willow was the happiest girl. She had the gentlest heart, the warmest cuddles, and the most loyal soul. Most people know Willow for how she would sing on command, give high fives and high tens and perform her clever little tricks. She was a lover of food and would jump like a little kangaroo when she was excited. Her tail wagged so hard her whole body moved with it. She cuddled everyone who gave her attention, but she was always my girl. Willow carried me through years where I didn’t know how to carry myself. She stayed by my side through every tear, every anxious night, every battle I’ve been through since I was 11 years old. And yesterday, I had the honour of holding her in my arms as she peacefully went to sleep. She was safe, and she was loved more than words can say.
