My husband’s patients (cataract and corneal transplants) are under local and are fast (10-15 minutes) so there isn’t as much talking. Plus you can probably tell that he is much more introverted than I am. I love my scrub assistants and nurses in the OR. They are truly what make my surgical days so fun! And, I honestly couldn’t do my surgeries without them. A good surgical assistant is ESSENTIAL because eye muscle surgery requires 4 hands to do well, to retract and pull the muscle so I can cut and stitch. I’ve gotten so dependent on mine that I honestly try to avoid operating if she’s not there! less
