I grew up watching her hands in the jar, pressing the vegetables, adjusting the brine. She never wrote anything down. No recipes, no measurements. Just her Chinese eyeballs. Just feel, taste, memory. When I left Chengdu in 2005, I brought a jar with me and started my own brine. A new country, same hands, same tradition. This jar is the closest thing I have to her kitchen. Today I found out this story was recognized as a Webby Honoree and I’m proud. Not just for me, but for the kind of stories we don’t always see enough of. Thank you for watching, and for caring about this little jar as much as I do. #cookingbomb #pickles #chinesefood less
