I was raised by my great aunt since I was 4 months old ..that was my mama, that’s all I knew. When she passed in 2015, I felt like I lost everything. I felt alone for the first time in my life. So I knew I had to move different. I needed stability, benefits… I needed to survive. The only person I ever felt truly had my back was gone. I always worked hard. Not just for me, but for her… I wanted to get us out our situation so bad. She made sure I was straight even when we were struggling so I wanted to do the same for her. You can see it in that first picture we didn’t even have a car, just waiting on a ride… but she still made sure I had school clothes. I use to be ashamed of this newspaper article growing up but now I cherish it. 🥹After she passed, I applied to the sheriff’s office. One thing about the Fulton County Sheriff office the money and benefits is good😂😂 I didn’t even know how I was gonna make it through training… but I swear, my mama was with me. Because I took that pepper spray and that taser like a G 😂 That same year… I bought my house. I did it for her!! And I’m still doing it for her to this day. That last picture..I still go sit on that bench sometimes… just to remind myself where I came from. It keeps me humble. less
