But at the same time, I wouldn’t change my journey — because it’s exactly what made me so passionate about helping young gymnasts avoid the same mistakes I made. From ages 10–14, I was training elite, and by the end, I was so worn down that I shifted my goals from elite gymnastics to competing in college. I dealt with 7 stress fractures, a torn labrum that required surgery, a torn Achilles, a torn hamstring, and constant soreness throughout my Junior Olympic gymnastics career. The reality is — I didn’t reach all the goals I had set for myself, largely because of what I didn’t know. If I had known how to properly fuel my body, I truly believe I could have gotten closer to those goals before stepping away from my goal of competing in elite gymnastics. It wasn’t until I became a gymnast at UCLA that I finally learned how to fuel for performance — and everything changed. My energy, my recovery, and my overall performance improved in ways I hadn’t experienced before. I can’t stress enough how important proper nutrition, mental performance, and injury prevention are in this sport. You don’t have to figure this out on your own. Working with a dietitian can help you fuel your body, reduce injuries, minimize illness, and support your long-term goals. Taking care of your body is what allows you to perform at your best. 💜 #savvyperformance #gymnastnutrition #gymnastics #uclagymnastics less
