But here’s the part we don’t talk about enough— Not everyone gets to turn 50. I’ve lost friends and family who never made it here. So I don’t see this as something to fight. I see it as something I get to experience. And when I look back… Some of the decisions that shaped my life the most were the ones that felt the scariest at the time. Saying yes to moving 6000 miles away. Buying a medical practice with my husband. Taking out two loans to do so. Living with my mother-in-law for six months so we could afford it all. None of it felt certain. But all of it built this life. And now, even the parts we’re told to hide— The under eye wrinkles. The sun spots. The reading glasses I reach for constantly— None of it feels like loss to me. It feels like perspective. Like… wow, I made it here. #50thbirthday less
