Certain healthy traits can quietly threaten someone with strong narcissistic tendencies, especially those linked to Narcissistic Personality Disorder. Independence is one of them. When you think for yourself and don’t rely on them, it disrupts their sense of control. They may respond by questioning your choices or making you doubt yourself. Confidence has a similar effect. When you feel secure in who you are, you’re harder to manipulate—so they may use subtle criticism or comparisons to chip away at it. Boundaries are another trigger. Saying “no” challenges their expectations, and holding firm can lead to guilt-tripping, anger, or emotional withdrawal. Even your happiness can become a problem. If it doesn’t depend on them, they may create tension or shift attention back to themselves. Strong relationships outside of them reduce their influence, so they might try to isolate you or cast doubt on others. And when you start recognizing patterns in their behavior, they may deny, deflect, or reverse blame. In the end, it’s not about you being the problem—it’s about what you represent: self-worth, clarity, and independence. #NarcTok #ToxicEx #Narcissist #NarcissisticAbuse #ToxicRelationships less
